“Nothing in the world is permanent, and we’re foolish when we ask anything to last, but surely we’re still more foolish not to take delight in it while we have it.” –W. Somerset Maugham

For right now, for this moment — the only moment that’s mine — this is the view out of my bedroom window. The week is halfway over and my chest is full of anxiety. This trip was a long time coming. It was expensive (and worth three times what I paid). It was challenging and exhausting to travel so far. And now it’s practically finished.
My fear brain is consumed with the countdown. Convinced I’ll never come back here or experience anything like this again. Full of sadness and panic.
My higher self is chanting “be present, be present, be present.” Remember that you will lose or leave many things in a lifetime, and that is as it should be. For now, drink it in. Take complete joy in it. Be grateful for it. And when the time comes, let it go.
