Once upon a time… a year ago today… I was hours into my breakup. He was days into his. We were 5,000 miles from home. And a hundred thousand different things had to align for us to find ourselves in the same city, on the same weekend, in similar situations. Both blinded by grief. But determined to find a way through. That weekend we wept. We laughed. We drank whiskey. We meditated. We journaled. We listened to Hillsong UNITED on repeat. We ate all the Indian food. We scheduled therapy. Shit got real. It was the beginning of the Big Heal. And the work that began on that autumn weekend in England would continue for months. It continues still. The past year has been … unexpected, to say the least. It has been the hardest, yet most rewarding, year of my life. Chris Crimmins, you are good medicine. You were a good friend. You’ve become a good partner. My gratitude to and for you is endless. Cheers to all the things.
